An Introduction
The Westport Young Woman’s League “WYWL”, established in 1956, is a non-profit philanthropic organization of women committed to promoting a sense of community through volunteerism, social activities and fundraising for local charities. Since its inception, WYWL has donated almost $4 million with over half that amount donated in the past decade alone. Membership is open to women who are residents of Westport and are over the age of 21. The WYWL offers many opportunities for members to be involved. Whether members choose to participate in fundraising through the WYWL Minute Man Race or CraftWestport or volunteer in the community by cooking for the Community Kitchen (formerly the Gillespie Center) or performing Kids on the Block puppet shows for local elementary school students, the WYWL offers something for everyone. There really is something for everyone! We have found that involvement in these worthy efforts leads to a sense of great accomplishment and satisfaction in making a difference in someone else’s life. Of course, all work and no play makes for a dull League, so while you’re helping the community, take the opportunity to make some new friends and take advantage of our many special opportunities.
The Westport Young Woman’s League welcomes and greets all of you as new members – and friends. We look forward to the contribution that your ideas and talents will make in the years to come.
Application Process:
“There are so many things to love about being a League member," says Madeline Monde, Former President of the Westport Young Woman’s League. "You can get involved in hands-on community service, participate in our two major fundraisers - CraftWestport and Minute Man Race, or join one of our "working committees." The League is also a great place to meet women with common interests outside of the workplace and your child's school."
We are now accepting applications for membership throughout the year, so if you would like to join there is no need to wait.
